Green gram is one of the common kitchen ingredients. It is called Moong dal in Hindi & paitham paruppu in Tamil. It is a magical one-ingredient remedy for many problems of skin & hair.
Green gram is rich in vitamins that give your skin, the necessary hydration. The granular particles of ground green gram clear up clogged pores and remove any extra oil. Green gram exfoliates and makes skin soft & supple. It helps to brighten skin and fight Sun tan.
Its use, dates back to the age of kings and queens. Green gram was used to achieve silky soft skin instead of soap. This wonder ingredient has innumerable benefits. Here, I list down few ways to incorporate green gram in you hair & skin masks.
- REPLACEMENT FOR SOAP
Powder Sun dried green gram. To it, add a pinch of turmeric and make a paste with yoghurt. Let it soak for half an hour. Then apply to wet body and face. Massage gently and wash off. It can be used instead of soap.
- ACNE FIGHTER
Mix 2 tbsp. Of green gram powder with 1 tsp. Of turmeric powder and 1 tsp. Of neem powder. Make a paste with rose water. Apply on acne affected areas. Wash off after 20 minutes.
- SUN TAN
Mix 1 tbsp. Of green gram powder along with 1 tsp. Of Orange peel powder and make a paste with a little of cucumber juice. Apply on tanned areas. Wash off after 10 minutes.
- HAIR GROWTH
Mix 2 tbsp. Of green gram powder, 1 tbsp. Fenugreek powder, 3 tbsp. Of yoghurt and make a hair pack. Apply on slightly oiled hair and leave for half an hour. Wash off with a mild shampoo.
Mix 2 tbsp. Of green gram powder, 1 tbsp. Of lemon, 1 tsp. Pepper. Make a paste with water. Apply on hair and leave for half an hour. Wash off with a mild shampoo.
