Oats & Almond Cookies For Babies

Cookies are everybody’s favourite.. A glass of milk and cookies can never go wrong. So why not give our little munchkins a home baked cookie full of love and goodness?

 These oat and almond cookies are good snacks, full of fibre. This recipe is very simple to make and calls for a “No baking soda” procedure which is a winner.

Benefits of ingredients:

Oats: A rich source of fibre, carbohydrates, total proteins, vitamins and minerals. Builds strong bones. Prevents asthma in kids.

Almonds: Promotes Body weight. Prevents skin problems.  Treats constipation. Boosts immune system.

 Wheat flour: Rich in carbohydrates, Vitamin B, Chlorophyll. Improves digestion and oral health

Organic country sugar (Powdered jaggery): Rich in iron. Prevents anaemia. Improves immunity. Helps prevent constipation. Maintains body temperature.

Butter: Rich source of fat soluble vitamins. High antioxidant content. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids aid in brain development.

Ghee: Rich in DHA necessary for brain development. Provides energy. Maintains thyroid level. Contains anti microbial activity.

Milk: Rich in Calcium. Maintains bone and teeth health. Supplies vitamins and minerals. Helps to stay hydrated. Promotes weight gain.

Ingredients:

Oats: 1 cup

Wheat flour: 1/2 cup

Almonds: 1/4 cup (coarsely powdered without skin).

Organic country sugar ( Naatu sarkarai): 1 cup

Butter: 100 grams

Ghee: 3 tbsp

Ajwain: 1/2 tsp

 Milk: 2 tbsp

Procedure:

    • Preheat the oven at 180 Degree C, for about 10 minutes.

    • Meanwhile mix all the dry ingredients( Oats, Wheat flour, Almond powder, Sugar, Ajwain in a bowl).

    • Slowly add ghee into the mixture.

    • Mix well to check the consistency of the dough. If it is too sticky add more wheat flour. If it is dry, then add little milk, mix well.

    • Check the dough consistency again.

    • Try to roll small balls from the dough. Flatten them evenly.

    • Place them on a baking tray lined with baking sheet.

    • Bake for about 15 minutes.

    • Flip the cookies to the other side. Bake again for 15 minutes.

    • Let cool then serve.


Points to be noted:

    • These cookies are suitable for babies above 1 year having at least 4 teeth.

    • Babies or kids should have been introduced to oats porridge or chopped almonds earlier.

    • Organic country sugar is also called as Naatu sarakarai in Tamil. It is a rich source of Iron and Calcium. Please avoid white sugar.

    • The cookies should be used within a week from making.

  • If you want to make these cookies for adults, you can add 1 tsp of Baking soda.
